“Ding” Darling Event: Upcycled Art Fest
""Ding" Darling Event: Upcycled Art Fest"
Ding Darling The Upcycle Art Fest on April 1 and 2, 2015, will benefit the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge.
If you’re looking for something a little bit different to do during your stay in the Sanibel, Florida area, you might want to check out the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling was a man who believed that all of the elements of nature have to exist in the balance–that land, water, and vegetation are absolutely dependent on one another, and that anything that has a negative impact on one of those three elements will have an equal impact on the others. That philosophy continued to become one of the founding principles of the Ding Darling Wildlife Society.
The Ding Darling Wildlife Society’s mission is to support land conservation and environmental education and services. Wherever possible, they partner with other local organizations to help ensure maximum effect on the area that they serve–including the National Wildlife Refuge that also bears their name.
One of those areas of service is the Upcycle Art Fest, which will be held on April 1 and 2, 2015 to benefit the Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. The event will be filled with can’t-miss fun, whether you’re looking to check out the exhibits by more than twenty-five artists, participate in silent auctions, or make a little bit of upcycled art of your own.
Upcycled art is made out of repurposed materials–things that might ordinarily have gone to waste, but which have instead been made into something beautiful. There are some incredible examples of this style of art available at the Upcycle Art Fest, whether you’re looking at a picture of a chameleon made entirely out of recycled bike tires and wine corks; a sea turtle constructed out of found objects; or jewelry made out of scrap metal. Want to see what can be done with so-called trash? Discover just how true it runs that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” as you browse through the artwork on display at the Upcycle Art Fest.
